GT Model United Nations Emerges Victorious

April 8, 2014 — Sponsored by the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, the Georgia Tech Model United Nations (GTMUN) Competitive Team keeps up the momentum at a recent competition, MUN-E II, hosted by Emory University. After receiving a spot in the top 75 North American teams ranking by Best Delegate, GTNMUN spent April 3-6th at Emory University competing in Emory’s Model United Nations crisis competitions.

The Sam Nunn Bank of America Policy Forum brings together noted academic, government, and private sector experts on technology, public policy, and international affairs to address issues of immediate importance to the nation. The 2014 topic is “U.S. Competitiveness Amid a Changing Natural Gas Landscape: A View from the Southeast.”

Discussion with Azerbaijani Ambassador: Current Political Trends in Eurasia

Elin Suleymanov has been the Azerbaijan ambassador to the United States since October 2011. Prior to that he was the first Consul General to Los Angeles and the Western States, where he led the team that established Azerbaijan’s diplomatic presence on the West Coast. Ambassador Suleymanov holds graduate degrees from Moscow State University and the University of Toledo, Ohio. He has authored numerous articles and is a frequent presenter at academic events. He speaks Azerbaijani, Russian, English, and Czech.

Regulatory Power Europe? Assessing the EU’s Efforts to Shape Global Rules

The European Union is widely regarded as a “regulatory superpower” (The New York Times, 19 October 2013: A1).  This workshop will focus on the EU's active efforts, both bilateral and multilateral, to shape regulations beyond its borders.  It thus intersects with a number of prominent debates about the EU as a global actor about global rule-making.
