Overview

 

Lt. Cmdr. Mike Hammond, a native of Huntsville, Alabama, graduated in 2007 from Vanderbilt University with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and was commissioned through the NROTC Program. He graduated with distinction from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2015 with a Master of Science in Cyber Systems and Operations.

He served at sea as the Information Warfare Officer onboard USS Farragut (DDG 99), where he earned his Surface Warfare Officer qualification and deployed to Europe and the Middle East in support of Operation New Dawn. He also completed an individual augmentee assignment to Afghanistan as part of Provincial Reconstruction Team Paktika, where he served as the Information Operations Officer for his team in addition to working as an advisor for several government officials.

His shore tours include service as a division officer and Senior Operations Officer at National Security Agency Texas where he managed a 24-hour watchfloor responsible for national intelligence mission tasking and reporting; Battle Watch Captain and Defensive Cyberspace Operations officer at Navy Fleet Cyber Command/Tenth Fleet where he coordinated the defense and operation of Navy networks; and International Partnerships Desk Officer and Deputy Director, Commander’s Action Group at U.S. Cyber Command where he coordinated cyber engagement strategies with multinational partners and developed strategic communications for a four-star commander. He currently serves as a Requirements Officer for Electromagnetic Maneuver Warfare capabilities and systems on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations at the Pentagon.
