Certificates

Certificate in European Affairs

The Certificate in European Affairs, offered jointly by the School of History, Technology, and Society and the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, recognizes the achievement of concentrated knowledge in a subject area. Europe is intrinsically interesting and worthy of study. Its peoples, cultures and histories contain a microcosm of the human experience. No matter your course of study at Georgia Tech, it will be enriched by contemplation of the European experience. Industry, government, and non-governmental organizations need university graduates with informed perspectives on Europe. This certificate allows students to choose courses on such topics as ancient or recent European history, in-depth studies of modern European countries, and foreign policy through international affairs. All courses which satisfy the European Affairs certificate requirements also fulfill either humanities or social science requirements necessary for all Tech students.

Requirements

  1. Twelve hours of courses in HTS and INTA, approved by the advisor. Nine of the twelve hours must be at the 3000-level or above. At least one course must be taken from HTS and one from INTA.
  2. All courses must be taken on a letter-grade basis, and a grade of C or better must be received in each course.
  3. Students majoring in INTA may not count courses towards the certificate that are required for their majors by name and number or for other INTA certificates.
  4. No more than six credits of special topics (4803) and three credits of special problems (4903) may be used towards the certificate.
